–Outlier score
–Views per hour (VPH)
–Channel median

Skip the typing

Copying view counts by hand takes a few minutes per channel. Outvyr does the same calculation for every video you see on YouTube and shows the score as a badge, with filters for 3x+ and 10x+ videos. Free, no account.

How to read the numbers

Outlier scoreMeaning
Under 1xBelow the channel's usual
1x – 3xNormal for the channel
3x – 10xOutlier: the topic or packaging worked
10x+Breakout: rare, study it closely

Use the last 10–20 long videos for the median and leave Shorts out: they get very different view counts. For videos under a day old, VPH tells you more than the outlier score. More in how to find outlier videos.

Questions

How is the outlier score calculated?

Video views divided by the median views of the channel's recent uploads. The median ignores one-off viral hits, so a single big video doesn't make every other video look weak.

What is VPH on YouTube?

Views per hour: a video's views divided by the hours since it was published. It shows how fast a video is growing right now, which matters more than total views for new uploads.

What is a good outlier score?

1x is normal for the channel, 3x or more is an outlier and 10x or more is a breakout. Look for channels with several 3x+ videos: that is a repeatable format, not luck.

Can I get these numbers without typing them?

Yes. The free Outvyr Chrome extension calculates the outlier score for every video on YouTube Home, Search, channel pages and the sidebar, and shows it as a badge.
