Outvyr Privacy Policy
Last updated: 23 October 2026 · Applies to the Outvyr Chrome extension by Scopras.
What Outvyr reads
Only on youtube.com pages, Outvyr reads public information that is already on the page: video titles, view counts, upload dates, channel names, the comments shown under a video, and the video's captions when you press Dissect on a video page. It does not read your Google account, YouTube Studio, watch history, subscriptions or anything on other websites.
What Outvyr stores, and where
| Data | Where | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Channel averages (median views of a channel's recent videos) | Your browser, 24 hours | So badges load fast without asking YouTube again |
| Videos you save | Your browser (chrome.storage.local) | Your research list; you can remove items or export them as CSV |
| The video you are dissecting (title, numbers, comments, captions) | Your browser | To show it in the side panel |
| Daily count of free dissections | Your browser | To apply the free plan limit |
| Pro license key, its status and this browser's activation id | Your browser | To keep Pro unlocked |
| Your settings (which pages show scores, filter bar choices) | Your browser | To remember them |
| Channels you watch and their alerts (Pro): channel name and link; video id, title, views and score of new outliers | Your browser, alerts 14 days | To tell you when a watched channel has a new hit |
| A short log of recent errors (which part failed and the error message, at most 40 lines) | Your browser | So you can copy it into an email if something breaks. It is never sent automatically. |
Removing the extension deletes all of this.
Network requests Outvyr makes
| To | When | What is sent |
|---|---|---|
| youtube.com | When a video card appears, to read that channel's public /videos page; when you press Dissect, to load captions through the YouTube player | A normal page request from your browser, the same as visiting the page yourself |
| youtube.com (Pro, only if you watch channels) | About every 6 hours while Chrome is open, and when you press "Check now": each watched channel's public Videos tab | A normal page request from your browser, one channel at a time |
| i.ytimg.com | Showing thumbnails | A normal image request |
| api.polar.sh (Polar, our payment provider) | When you enter a Pro key, at most once a day after that to check it is still valid, and when you remove the key from this browser | The license key, our organization ID, the label "Outvyr in Chrome" and the id Polar gives this browser (a key works in a limited number of browsers). Nothing about what you watch or browse. |
