A vidIQ alternative for finding videos that beat their channel
vidIQ is a full channel-growth suite. If what you mostly need is to spot proven video ideas while you browse YouTube, Outvyr does that one job, for free or $9 a month, without connecting your channel.

When vidIQ is the better choice
- You want keyword research, an AI coach and channel-growth tips in one place.
- You want AI credits for titles and ideas, and access from Claude or ChatGPT through vidIQ's MCP.
- You manage a channel day to day and want its analytics next to the research.
When Outvyr is the better choice
- You want an outlier score on every thumbnail as you browse, not in a separate dashboard.
- You want to read why a video worked: its first 30 seconds word for word, its pacing and the questions in its comments.
- You don't want to sign in or give a tool access to your channel.
- You want to pay $39 a year instead of $199.
What Outvyr does
Outvyr puts a badge on every video on YouTube: how many times its channel's usual views it got. A 12x video from a small channel is a topic people want, not just a big channel's reach. Press Dissect under a video to read its first 30 seconds word for word, see its speaking speed and pacing, click through the transcript, and read its comments sorted into questions, "part 2" requests and complaints. Filter any page to 3x+ or 10x+ videos, small channels or the last 30 days, and save the winners. How outlier scores work.
Questions
Is Outvyr a free vidIQ alternative?
Yes. Outvyr's free plan shows outlier scores on every YouTube page (the top ones after the 6th are locked), 3 full video dissects a day and the top viewer questions. Pro is $9 a month or $39 a year.
Does Outvyr do everything vidIQ does?
No. Outvyr focuses on finding videos that beat their own channel and showing why they worked. vidIQ offers tools Outvyr doesn't; see the list above.
How does Outvyr calculate the outlier score?
It divides a video's views by the median views of its channel's recent long-form uploads, read from the channel's public Videos page.
Can I use Outvyr and vidIQ together?
Yes. Outvyr runs in your browser and doesn't need an account, so it doesn't conflict with other YouTube tools.
